Spyware is used to gain information about people's internet usage and display advertisements based on the content the viewer is most interested in. Spyware programs are usually disguised as convenient little programs that give you information (such as WeatherBug) when in actuality they are gaining information from you. Spyware companies to not take into consideration that the programs take up the processing power of your computer, hence slowing it down. Be careful about programs that claim to remove spyware but actually only add more on. There are several programs out ther that do this.
